A
new Tagline has been chosen for the Calcasieu Parish Public Library.
Read-Learn-Connect
was chosen from 686 entries received between November 12 and December
12, 2008.
Tying
for the winning entry were Charles Broussard of Iowa and Marilyn
Bonnette of Moss Bluff. Each has been presented with a check for
$100.00 from the Calcasieu Parish Friends of the Library.
The Library administrative staff
narrowed the 686 entries received from across the parish to 25
finalists. The Library Board of Control were presented with the
finalists at their December meeting and returned with the winning
selection at the January meeting.
A tagline is a short phrase that
explains in a few words what the library does and what makes it
unique. The tagline becomes part of the library's identity and
differs from a slogan, which promotes a campaign and may change
or disappear entirely when the campaign ends.
The tagline chosen reflects the
Strategic
Plan goals for Calcasieu Parish Public Library through 2012.
The strategic planning process was a collaborative effort including
community stakeholders, all levels of library staff, the members
of the library management team, and the Board of Control. The
process included identifying parish needs and determining how
the library could work with other parish organizations and agencies
to meet those needs.
The goals call for satisfying curiosity
through lifelong learning; stimulating imagination through reading,
viewing and listening for pleasure; connecting to the online world
through public internet access; creating young readers through
emergent literacy; and visiting a comfortable place, both physical
and virtual.
Keep watching for
the appearance of the Tagline on the website!
